BEHIND THE LENS
Hi I’m Bel. I’ve spent many years going out early in the morning or sitting on the beach in the evening waiting for the perfect light. When sitting in South Bay near the racecourse, you can see the light changing over the mountains. God rays shoot between the clouds, you get layers of mountains in a muted blue, the clouds change and then the sun lights them up with gold light. I love the ocean and the mountains and Kaikoura literally has it all. Its intensely beautiful. My photography gets me outside too – I think of all those people who hardly ever go outside. A stormy day is an opportunity for a great photo – it’s not just nice weather days that we should be walking in. In winter the Kaikoura ranges are covered in snow, adding an extra level of beauty to photos.
